Summit Silver Anniversary Ale Review

Silver Anniversary Ale

Summit Brewing Company of St. Paul, MN is celebrating their 25th year with Silver Anniversary Ale.  I had heard about this beer over the Summit blog and was anxious to give it a try.  It is a dry hopped version of their flagship Extra Pale Ale.  Citra, Cascade and Centennial hops are used along with pale and crystal malts.  Recommended food pairings include Cajun, Caribbean and Mexican.

ABV = 6.5%

IBUs = 80

I found this at Good Spirits (Taylor’s Pantry) in Sioux Falls for $1.79 per 12 ounce bottle in their single beer section.  The beer poured out clear and deep gold into a pint glass.  There was a fluffy off white head.  The aroma and flavor are a tasty mixture of piney and citrus.  The beer leaves a nice lacing on the glass as it is consumed.

Grade = A-

I really liked this beer (better than their EPA – IMHO)!  You will enjoy Silver if you like hoppy beers.  I would be happy if they added it to their lineup or made it a seasonal.  It may be hard to locate since it’s a limited release.  Good Spirits (Taylor’s Pantry) in Sioux Falls was out on August 13.  You may have to attend the 25th Anniversary Party in St. Paul September 10 to get a taste.  It could be the highlight of a Minnesota beer run!
